Five Letter Friday: Volume 21

It was a crazy, but amazingly fun week with my preschoolers. I am so blessed to be a preschool teacher. I can truly say I love every minute of my job.

Then I get to come home and receive even more blessings from kids all over the world.

Even though some days can be difficult, I never have to look far to see how much God loves me. He puts so many great children in my life.

So, now that I'm sufficiently sappy, let's share five letters.

Even though I just shared a letter from him on Tuesday, I received another letter soon after from Hillary. This time, it is written on the How I Have Fun template.

Hillary is 8 years old, lives in Kenya, and he wrote this letter on September 6th, 2018.

Hello Dear Kayla, 

I greet you with the peace of the Lord! I give you thanks for the stories. They are interesting. I enjoyed the pictures that you sent me. I'm happy that you're taking care of children. Let me tell you that I am doing well, thank God. At the moment, I am studying graphic design at the institute. I am doing well there. In the Compassion project, all of us who are in GAP do activities, for instance, evangelism. I also learned how to make cunape (A traditional form of cheesy bread in Bolivia). My family enjoys good health, thank God. I hope your family is the same. In the mornings, from Monday to Friday, I go to my school classes. In the afternoon, I work with my dad. We work as car mechanics. I am doing my best to learn, although I can get by with the little that I already know, but I want to learn more. How are you and your family? I hope you are all doing well. How is the weather over there? Is it cold? Thank you for the letters and pictures you send me. They are all pretty. Here in my country, Christmas is coming near. I am very happy because it is my favorite holiday and the day Jesus was born. I share a lot with my family. I want to share about a movie I watched called The 48 Wishes of Christmas. It is about a girl who hated Christmas, who lived with her brother and parents. Her dad died and she started hating Christmas. Her mom told her to decorate with her brother, but she didn't want to do it. She ended up loving Christmas at the end, but I won't tell you the whole movie because it is very long.

Three Letter Tuesday: Volume 20

After my failure on Friday, it's time to get back on track.

Halloween craziness is over and my preschoolers and I have started a fun Fairy Tale unit for November. It's been a ton of fun, so far!

But as today is Tuesday, it is time to share three letters!

Our first letter today comes from sweet Hillary. He wrote his letter to me on the My Medical Check-Up template.

This particular letter makes me laugh. Awhile ago, I wrote to my kids about a family event that I had. To this event, my mom and my sister just happened to wear the same sweater, without planning it. I told my kids about it and sent a photo of the two of them together, with their matching sweaters. Hillary doesn't seem all that impressed. ;)

Hillary is 8 years old, lives in Kenya, and he wrote this letter on August 21st, 2018.

Five Letter Friday: Volume 20 (Not Found)

After a week of classroom craziness; surviving what I call the week of Pre-Halloween, Halloween, and Post-Halloween, I was absolutely too exhausted to write my usual Friday post.

However, as opposed to just skipping it, I decided to write a post like this, so that I can keep up with my pattern of volume numbers. I really didn't want to get the numbers off.

So...I took a break this Friday.

I will continue writing again next week.

Three Letter Tuesday: Volume 19

I have two preschool classes, who meet on alternate days.

That means that I do everything twice. The same lesson plan twice, the same classroom activities twice, music class twice a week.

That also means that I have two holiday parties.

As if one isn't exhausting enough!

But of course, it's also fun.

The first party was today and the second one is tomorrow.

It's going on 11:00 p.m and I just remembered that I should probably blog some letters.

I know that I keep promising posts besides these letters posts, but I just haven't been able to find enough time in the week!

Hopefully soon.

But not today. Today you get three letters. :)

We first read a letter from Milkias, who I always says is not one of my most chatty kiddos.

We'll begin with a letter from Dagim. He didn't have too much to say, but every letter from every child is always such a gift.

I went to the doctor with my dad and I was happy that they examined me. My doctor advised me to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water, and participate in sports. They examined my chest with a stethoscope. I want to ask you some questions. When is your birthday? What is your favorite food? Where do you live? I want to tell you that we have many activities in our CDC, like music, sports, academic reinforcement, cooking, and medical checkups. I also want to tell you that I am doing well in school. This week flew by!

Preschool was a flurry of fun activities and crazy kiddos.

Tomorrow, I will spend the entire day at a high school marching band competition, which I will love.

It is 10:45 p.m on Friday and I am exhausted.

But before I go to bed, I have five letters from five wonderful children to share with you.

We start with a letter from Jonatan. I love when my kiddos get old enough to carry on a conversation through letters, including asking their own questions for me to answer.

Jonatan is 11 years old and lives in Colombia. His letter is dated September 7th, 2018.

I am so grateful to greet you and to hear from you. Thank you for telling me stories about Pinocchio and about the hen with the golden eggs. Pinocchio's story is very interesting because it teaches us that we must not lie. One of God's commandments is that we must not lie. I want to tell you that I went with my parents and my siblings to a park called Los Fundadores and we had a great time. Are there many parks in your country? What are their names? You make me relive my childhood! Kayla, I am health tutor at the project, but I am not actually with the children. I am in charge of keeping track of their medical check-up records. By the way, in the month of May, I had a routine medical check-up in the project and my mom was there with me. We were concerned because I was having some neck pain. The doctor prescribed some pills. We really liked knowing that it was nothing serious. Now that I am working at the project, I have realized how good it is to help others. I owe that much to you. May God reward you. We are under the storm Isaac's warning and it is raining a lot. It causes flooding the vulnerable zones, but where I live isn't affected, thank God. How are you doing over there? I am doing just fine here. I have heard and read about the Grand Canyon, but I have never seen it. I think the Grand Canyon is a great creation made my God. Bowling only exists in big cities and we don't have it in our city. I took a first aid training at the project. This training helped me a lot. I have never joined any VBS program. This year, I didn't do any special thing on my birthday. My parents simply prayed for me and I considered myself 12 years old. My family members are Sugiono, Febe, Kharis, and Eunike. My favorite thing to do is play games. My house is very comfortable because there is a garden behind it and there is a street in front of it. However, I feel hot sometimes because the glass windows are limited. That's all now for my letter. God bless you.

Photos of Manna Mail Delivery Day: September 2018

Sending fun mail to my Manna boys is always such a pleasure.

But my hearts truly loves seeing photos of them receiving that mail.

During this last mailing, I was only able to send a short letter, but I sure hope it was still appreciated. I plan to send a much bigger and more fun for the upcoming Christmas letters.

Unfortunately, my boy Brayan was not at the center the day mail was handed out, so I do not have a new photo of him. But enjoy seeing my other nine handsome boys!

It's hard to tell from a photo, but my Jarlen seems to have gotten taller! 

There is just something special about Carlos. I just can't say what it is. He just seems like such a joyful, young man! 

Ivan is looking so grown up! 

I swear half the photos I have of Noel are him looking suspicious. ;) 

Angel is just the sweetest! He seems to love this style of shirt, button down with a fun pattern. I'm so happy to have found a fun one in this style, which I sent to him in his backpack. 

Levi (and his brother Yesbin) appear to have gotten haircuts! 

But they are still wearing those same shirts. I really hope the clothes they receive in the backpacks I sent fit on them. 

Antony isn't looking like a baby anymore! He is a little boy now! 

If that isn't the sweetest smile ever, I don't know what is. Defer is so adorable!
