In our school, we had an examination and I got a high score. Next week, we will be having a Girl Scout encampment and I'm hoping that I can join. Help me to pray for that matter please. The story of the Elves and the Shoemaker is nice and I hope that all people will be like the elves. God bless you. Yes, I can helping you in praying for Gage and Chloe.

Five Letter Friday: Volume 12

We survived the first week of preschool! We had some tough moments, as well as some brilliantly amazing moments. I'm looking forward to the year!

The blessings kept pouring in in letter form. So let's share five letters today!

Today's first letter comes from one of my newest guys, Dharshan Kumar. His letter came so fast after receiving him. Judging from what he said in this letter, it seems that he used to have a sponsor that wrote to him and thinks that I'm that I'm that person. I hope I can live up to his letter writing standards!

Dharshan Kumar is 10 years old, lives in Sri Lanka, and he wrote his letter on July 17th, 2018.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

I am well. How are you? It is raining heavily here. How is the weather there? Why haven't you written to me in such a long time? My teacher told me that you celebrate the new year in June, so happy new year to you! I will have my 2nd term exams soon and next month I will be getting a holiday. I haven't planned where I will go yet because I was busy studying for my exams.

Yours,
Dharshan Kumar

Next we read a letter from Anny. I recently acquired a large group of kids from a friend and Anny was one of those kids. This letter was technically written to my friend, but was passed along to me. It's full of good information, so I'm grateful to have it!

Anny is 11 years old. She lives in Guatemala. Her letter is dated July 18th, 2018.

I say goodbye and wish you blessing and success in your life.

We'll end with a general letter from my boy Mulwa. He continues to have a tutor write for him, even at his age. Unfortunately, I've stopped learning details about him. Each letter seems to be like the last one, just hearing basic information. Maybe it will change in the future.

Onto a letter from Kamaldine, who so wonderfully wrote to me on the My Dreams template. She is so little and her dreams are so big and atypical from what you would think a little girl would be dreaming about. It's hard for me to decide if these are Kamaldine's real dreams, or if she is being told what to write by an adult helping her write. However, I know in poverty situations, children often grow up much faster than they do in the first world. They often think very much so like adults.

Kamaldine is 6 years old and is from Burkina Faso. She wrote this letter on April 19th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

1. My greatest dream is: Release my parents from poverty & help others

4. Someday I would like to visit my sponsor because: Tell her thank you for everything she does for me.

Dear Kayla,

Hello! How are you doing? I hope that you are doing well. I am glad to write to you. I received your letters and they really pleased me. I've seen Zenebu's picture. It's too nice. What are your hobbies right now? Is there sun there right now? Please pray for my family. I saw the recipe. I'll tell my older sister to cook it. See you soon! I love you!

________________________________________________________________________________

Coincidentally, this next letter comes from Zenebu, who Kamaldine just mentioned in her letter. They are prayer partners, so it's fun to write these letters in the same blog post. Zenebu writes on a template titled My Family.

I'm scared about what she writes about her mother. Her mother is missing?!

Zenebu is 7 years old, lives in Ethiopia, and her letter was written on June 4th, 2018.

From the Field Friday: ID-202

Another Friday, another pastor letter. It amazes me a bit how many of these I've typed up already. And I still have many to go!

Today's letters is from East Indonesia, project ID-202. This is the project my boy Nico attends.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

I am pastor Hengly Mantak of the Filadefia Tondangow Church. I am also the advisor of the Filadelfa Child Development Center where your sponsored child attends. The center is located in Tomohon, North Sulawesi province in Eastern Indonesia. Through this letter, I want to thank you for sponsoring Nico. Currently, we have 445 children and 33 of them are waiting to be sponsored.

Most of the people in our community are farm laborers and do odd jobs. Therefore, their family's income is low while the cost of daily needs increase each day. They have a hard time to get what they need daily. The education cost is higher too. That is why some of their children can't go to school or continue to a higher level of education. The parents really need someone to help their children to get education and fulfill their needs. With the present of the center in our community, people are more aware about the importance of holistic development for children.

The children have a close relationship with Jesus. They are active at church, know how to pray and some teenagers have become Sunday school teachers, singers, and worship leaders at their local church. Not only the community and the children, the staffs are impacted, too. By becoming staffs, they get to learn about administration and finance. Some of the staffs' last education is only until elementary school but their willingness to help the children and work for God enables them to maximize their potential.

Within this year, we have been visited three times. The sponsors who came don't have any sponsored children here but they would like to see how we run the center. Nevertheless, this visit has given encouragement for the children when they interacted with them and visited some of their homes. There is one visitor who decided to sponsor a child who home was visited. These visits have encouraged the children and the families to do the best and love their family more for there are other people from other place who love their children as much as they do.

There are many sponsor letters that we have received at the center this year. These letters play an important part in the relationship between the sponsors and children and even with the children's family. The sponsors and the children have motivated one another through encouragement, advice, prayers, Bible verses, and photos that make them to know you more. The children want to study harder at school and at the center because of their sponsors. Please continue to make the time to write to Nico. It means a lot for them and your investment have caused the parents to commit and support the work of our church.

We hope that the children will be people who obey the Lord Jesus, independent and responsible towards their duties. We hope that the work that we are doing will encourage other community about the importance of holistic development in the children which centers on Jesus Christ. Please pray for all the children that are part of the center so that they can grow healthy, strong, and have a great Christian personality and reach their dreams. We also hope that you keep praying for the staff and tutors to keep committed to their work. Thank you for reading this letter. We hope and pray that Jesus' love and blessings will be poured onto you. May Jesus bless you.

Pastor Hengly Mantak

Four More Correspondent Children!

It's been a great month for correspondent kids! Months ago, I put myself on the waiting list for some boys from Asia. I've been receiving some now and again, but my final requests have finally reached the top of the list. Over the last few weeks, I've received one boy from Asia. I've also received three other boys, as replacements for some recently graduated kids.

So without further ado, let's welcome my four new family members:

14 Year Old Muzuro from Uganda

7 Year Old Cedrick from Rwanda

6 Year Old Nico from East Indonesia

6 Year Old Lenin from Peru
