He is a cheerful boy. He said this is a special month because it includes Children's Day and Father's Day. On June 10th, there was a Children's Day activity. He and his friends sang songs and had a competition for memorizing Bible verses. He said it was fun and had the opportunity to eat a delicious meal. On June 17th, the church held a Father's Day activity. He sang a song to his father and everyone had a good time. He asks if you have Father's Day activities there. Please pray for him and his mother's work. He has his parents pray for you. May God bless you.

This next letter is a short note from my typically chatty Rebecca. She must not have had a lot of extra time to write this time around. Or just didn't have much to say.

Dear Ate Kayla,

Good day! How are you and your family? About us here, we are fine. We started classes on June 4th. I have new friends now. My verse for you is John 14:6. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me." I am thankful for the school supplies, bag, and shoes. My fingernail is fine now. Yes, we do have breaks from school. During Easter, we go to church. I pray for you Ate to have a good job. God bless!

Becca

The last post for today is from Sunrei (this post has been dominated by girls!). She is still so young, but she really does write like a child much older than herself. Quite a wonderful personality, I think.

Sunrei is 11 years old, from Peru, and her letter is dated July 4th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Sponsor Kayla,

I greet you in the love of Christ. I hope when you receive my letter that you are in good health, along with your family. I thank you for what you sent me. I liked very much the story of the Ugly Duckling and how at the end, it turned in a beautiful swan. I want to tell you that every Tuesday, my class goes to the park with our tutor, but I don't go because I don't like it. My youngest sister has turned one year old. They grow up so fast! My favorite dish is Aji de Gallina, which is spicy creamed chicken. What is your favorite dish? I ask you to please read Psalm 93. I ask you to please pray for my family. Thank you. Many blessings. I say goodbye with love.

Five Letter Friday Volume 1

At the super high rate that I've been receiving letters (I received 6 letters TODAY) and the super low rate of me actually finding the time/effort to actually get those letters posted, I'm going to make myself a set schedule. Because I like alliteration, I will be titling these posts Five Letter Fridays and Three Letter Tuesdays.

8 letters posted a week. I know that sounds like a lot, but I seriously have 45 letters backed up that I haven't posted on my blog and even more that I haven't sat down to respond to (that's my project for this week...and probably several more weekends...).

I love writing to my kids and I'm typically so on top of these things, but with my new full time job this summer and my extra events (small group, trivia, piano lessons, seeing my family) my weekdays are pretty much booked.

So, without further ado, let's begin our first Five Letter Friday!

The first letter in this series comes from Ernest, who is 12 years old, and lives in Ghana. His letter is dated March 7th, 2018.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

Ernest says he thanks God for bringing you into his life. He says he has learnt about Jonah at the project. He says he helps his parents with household chores. He asks you to pray for him to be brilliant in his studies. He says may God shower blessings on your life. He shares John 14:14, "If you ask anything in my name, I will do it."

________________________________________________________________________________

Our next letter comes from my girl Ayling. I will be joining her project in prayer for the ability to build classrooms!

Ayling is 11 years old and lives in Nicaragua. Her letter is dated March 22nd, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Hello Dear Sponsor Kayla,

I hope that you are healthy with your family. I thank you for continually supporting me. God bless you. I want to tell you that I am close to finishing private school and will be in secondary school soon. I just finished Easter week vacation. I want to know what your favorite color is. Answering your question, I want to tell you have we have classes under some awnings and when it rains, we have classes in the church. We are praying for a donor to help us build some classrooms. Thank you for the picture that you sent me. I will be praying for God to help you to lose some weight (I asked her to pray for this. She's not being mean.) Also I want to tell you that I participate in an evangelistic campaign. We give pamphlets around the neighborhood and invite many kids to attend the campaign. I ask you to pray for the campaign. I say goodbye, sending you kisses and hugs.

With Love,
Ayling

Dear Godmother Kayla,

I went to the beach with my family, my tutor, and my friends from church. At Christmas, I had a good time with my family, set off firecrackers with my cousins, and had a turkey dinner with Russian salad, hot cocoa, and Christmas fruit cake. My uncle gave me a gift of a cosmetic set and my mom gave me perfume. How good is God?! Also, I took a boat ride with my family at the beach. I want you to read John 16:27, "No, the father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God." Also read 2 Peter 3:1-8. We should look for God more. What is the name of your congregation? I ask you to pray for my mom and my sisters. I say goodbye to you with love.

Before I wind up, I have a memory verse to share with you from Psalm 125:1, which says, "Those who trust in the Lord are like Mt. Zion, which can never be shaken or destroyed." My Christmas was good and I celebrated at home with my relatives. It was enjoyable and there was all kinds of food. Thank you for your support and may God bless you. Good bye.

Brian

As you can imagine, I am so happy for these photos!

Next year, she is going to start school in January. She sends you many hugs and kisses and sends you the verse John 3:16. She also thanks you for looking out for her. In her community there are integrations to collect money to improve the neighborhood and help the poor people. It is very beautiful because they are a very close community. She tells you that is not sick, she is healthy. She wants to know; How are the children you are caring for? How are you? She sends you some photos.

Now, onto the amazing letter from my sweet girl Brisa. She writes her letter on the My Holiday/School Break template and also included some wonderful photos! Letters from Spanish Speaking Kiddos

I think I am running out of ways to group these letters together. But sorting by language is a new one. All of the letters I share today were written by Spanish speaking kiddos. I guess that's as good as any way to share them, right?

I'll start with a letter from an itty-bitty, who is writing to me about the climate where she lives. Also, whenever a child tells me what they want to be when they grow up, my favorite question to ask is, "What makes a ___________ a good _________?" Carolin told me she wants to be a teacher so I asked her, "What a teacher a good teacher?" I love her answer.

This letter is written by Carolin, who is 5 year old and lives in the Dominican Republic. Her letter is dated August 27th, 2017.

________________________________________________________________________________

1. We have a: Hot Season

2. Right now the weather is: Sunny

3. When the weather is sunny, I like to: Eat ice cream

4. When the weather is rainy, I like to: Watch TV

5. My favorite season is: Spring

Dear Kayla,

May the peace of the Lord continue blessing you. I'm so happy for the letter I received from you. A good teacher should love the children so that the students wish to learn to do their homework. I would like to visit the United States someday. I am doing very well, thank God. I already started school. Please pray for my family.

________________________________________________________________________________

In this letter from sweet Sunrei, I get to hear about all kinds of fun celebrations and outings!

Sunrei is 10 years old and lives in Peru. Her letter is not dated.

________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Sponsor Kayla,

Greetings in the powerful love of Christ. Thank you for the beautiful letters sent by the children. How beautiful is your country! Let me tell you that we celebrated birthdays in the church. There was cake, candies, a biblical contests, and a singing contest. It was funny. In July, we celebrated National Holidays. I went on a trip to a zoo and to the mall with my family. In August, we will celebrate Sponsor Day and Children's Day. There will be many games, cake, and candies. We will also put a decorative mural where there will be a photo of you and biblical cards too. On July 26th, I was on vacation. I went on a trip with my grandfather to see animals. I ate rice with duck cooked with cilantro and beer. I had a nice vacation. Now I am at school and I am happy with my classmates. I am learning more about God. I always pray for you that you do well at everything. When is your birthday? What season do you like the most? I ask you to pray for my parents so they can know God. Also pray for my little sisters. Goodbye with a lot of love.

Sunrei Victoria

Now a great letter from one of my favorite Honduran boys (I have a lot of favorites); Carlos Alexander. I can't stop calling him by both of his names because, to me, he was Alexander for years and now he goes by Carlos only. I use both of his names now when I talk about him. He signs his letters with both names.

Carlos Alexander is 16 years old. His letter was written on August 18th, 2017.

When I am inside the house, I like playing with my siblings. I give thanks for the letter and for the photo in which you appear. It is very beautiful. At the CDC, they teach me the word of God. I want to tell you that I am doing very well at school. My little brother is growing very fast. His name is Walter Julian. My little sister is one year old and her name is Evelin. She is very playful and pretty. Pray for me and my family. I would like to know, do you play any musical instrument? I say goodbye with a big hug.

Carlos Alexander

Dear Kayla,

How are you and your family? I hope that you are well. Now, I have just arrived from the doctor. My mother has been taking me to therapy because I have a learning problem. Now, I am little bigger and stronger because on July 18th, I turned 15 years old. My dog gave birth to four puppies. They are very beautiful and tender. Now I am going to start a new school year, in the 1st year of high school. I am very grateful to God. Please greet Brandilyn for me.

With Love,
Marinelis
