Three Letter Tuesday: Volume 19

I have two preschool classes, who meet on alternate days.

That means that I do everything twice. The same lesson plan twice, the same classroom activities twice, music class twice a week.

That also means that I have two holiday parties.

As if one isn't exhausting enough!

But of course, it's also fun.

The first party was today and the second one is tomorrow.

It's going on 11:00 p.m and I just remembered that I should probably blog some letters.

I know that I keep promising posts besides these letters posts, but I just haven't been able to find enough time in the week!

Hopefully soon.

But not today. Today you get three letters. :)

We first read a letter from Milkias, who I always says is not one of my most chatty kiddos.

Milkias is 14 years old, lives in Ethiopia, and his letter is dated September 20th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

My Dear Sponsor,

I wish you peace and grace from God. How are you, along with your family? My family and I are doing well. The project has been providing me with a lot of support and I would like to thank you for all your support too. I am a 6th grader. I am very happy and thankful for your letter. Please pray that I would be a good student. May God bless you!

Yours,
Milkias

________________________________________________________________________________

The next letter is from Jule. It sounds like he and a friend of his has had a pretty big adventure recently! I'm glad everyone appears to be healing up fine!

Jule is 14 years old and is from Rwanda. His letter is dated October 6th, 2018.

_________________________________________________________________________________

I, Jule, your child, greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I thank you and your family. It is raining here so we are growing maize and beans. School is going well. We are about to start the exams for the end of the academic year 2018. One of my friends broke a bone, but it is about to become healed. He broke it while we were playing soccer, but it is not too serious. He went to the hospital and now he has a small wound. Thank you for the letter you sent to me, telling me how you, Gage, and Chloe are doing. I was happy to hear from you and see their pictures. I will continue to pray for their studies, so that God may keep blessing them with success. Keep praying for me and my studies. God bless you.

________________________________________________________________________________

We end today's post as we began it, with a letter from Ethiopia. This one is exciting, because it's actually my first letter from Semira. It seems to be a pretty typical first letter. Not too chatty, but a nice way to start the letter-writing relationship.

Semira is 9 years old and she wrote her letter on October 10th, 2018.

Dear Kayla,

Peace and good health be to you! How are you, my dear sponsor? Me and my family are fine, thanks to God. I hope you are fine too. How is life and the weather there? I am doing well in school. My school friends are all fine. We started the new year nicely. Thank you for everything. God bless you you. Bye!

Five Letter Friday: Volume 19

Friday, Friday, eh?

The preschoolers wore me out today.

I came home from school and promptly fell asleep.

Now it's time to blog some sweet letters from some sweet kiddos.

We'll begin with a letter from Dagim. He didn't have too much to say, but every letter from every child is always such a gift.

Dagim is 10 years old, lives in Ethiopia, and his letter is dated September 12th, 2018.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

My family and I are very well. I thank you so much for your support. I'm so happy. I love your story. At the project, I learned good knowledge about obeying. I will soon start 6th grade education. Please pray for me. Thanks for the Pinocchio story. Please pray for my academic excellence. I would be happy if you write another letter. I love you so much. I wish you all the best.

Dagim

________________________________________________________________________________

The next letter is from Prity. I always love when my kiddos ask me about my "activities". I think sometimes kids forget that a lot of adults don't really have "activities". I pretty much go to work and then come home. Every day. ;)

Prity is 9 years old and lives in Indonesia. Her letter is dated September 25th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Dearest Sister Kayla,

How are you doing? I really hope that you and your family are doing well and that you're all healthy, just like me. I'd like very much for you to keep supporting me. I keep going to school and then I help my parents with cleaning after school. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I go to the project. Please keep praying for me to remain healthy and do my activities well What are your activities now? Thank you so much for your letters. I always get excited to keep in touch with you. That's all for now. May Jesus continue to bless us all.

Much Love,
Prity

Maria is 14 years and lives in Brazil. Her letter is dated September 13th, 2018.

Hello Dear Sponsor Kayla,

I'll change schools and I might not study with my friends. But I do hope to keep in touch with them. Thank you for the letter you sent to me about Jack and the Beanstalk. The pictures are so cool and help me imagine. Hugs and kisses from your sponsored child.

Agness

Three Letter Tuesday: Volume 18

It's Tuesday!

It's 7:30 a.m and I leave for work at 8:00 a.m.

Let's see if I can focus enough to get these typed up before I leave. ;)

Super typing powers: ENGAGE!.

Today's first letter comes from Yohannis. It's just a short letter, a few sentences long. Yohannis lives in Ethiopia, where it's not only a different month than it is here, it's an entirely different year. They follow a different calendar than the rest of the world, so it can get confusing, at times.

Yohannis is 9 years old. His letter is dated (according to our calendar) September 25th, 2018.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

How are you? Me and my family are fine. I am very happy to receive your letter. Me and my family are very glad to hear from you. Now it is January here. That is the month where we start class and meet new friends, so I am very happy! Goodbye!

Yours,
Yohannis

_________________________________________________________________________________

Next is a letter from my eternally chatty guy, Daniel. It's been such a pleasure getting to know him all these years!

Daniel is 13 years old and lives in Colombia. His letter is dated September 1st, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

Hello, dear sponsor. How have you been doing? I am grateful for your sponsorship all this time. My last medical checkup was in January 2018 because my chest was hurting a lot. I went to the doctor with my dad and I was happy that they examined me. My doctor advised me to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water, and participate in sports. They examined my chest with a stethoscope. I want to ask you some questions. When is your birthday? What is your favorite food? Where do you live? I want to tell you that we have many activities in our CDC, like music, sports, academic reinforcement, cooking, and medical checkups. I also want to tell you that I am doing well in school. God has blessed my family. Our CDC took us to fly kites on August 23rd. Our church took us to fly kites too. I say goodbye with a bear hug and a kiss. I will be praying for you and your entire family. I ask you to pray for me and my family too. I give you this bible verse: Jeremiah 29:11.

Daniel

_________________________________________________________________________________

We end today's post with another letter from the same country, this time from Lina. I must say, that out of all of my kiddos, the kids from Colombia have always been the most chatty of the bunch, right from the get-go.

Lina is 19 years old and wrote this letter on September 9th, 2018.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Sponsor Kayla,

Greetings to you and may God bless you. How have you been? I want to tell you that my family and I are doing great because finally, after 10 years of not seeing my father, I will be able to visit him soon. I also want to tell you that my last medical checkup was in April of this year. It was my yearly checkup at the project. I was there with the doctor and I felt calm. She weighed me and measured me and she recommended medicine for gastritis and for my menstrual cramps. Where do your parents live? What do they do for a living? About your questions, the doctor recommended regular visits to her for tests to find out why my menstrual cramps hurt so much. Thank you for your spiritual and economic help. Please pray for my brother as he does his military service. Also pray for a house for my family. I want to say goodbye. I hope that God protects you and blesses you always. I want to share Psalm 86: 1-17 with you to meditate on.

Lina

Five Letter Friday: Volume 18

This week flew by!

Preschool was a flurry of fun activities and crazy kiddos.

Tomorrow, I will spend the entire day at a high school marching band competition, which I will love.

It is 10:45 p.m on Friday and I am exhausted.

But before I go to bed, I have five letters from five wonderful children to share with you.

We start with a letter from Jonatan. I love when my kiddos get old enough to carry on a conversation through letters, including asking their own questions for me to answer.

Jonatan is 11 years old and lives in Colombia. His letter is dated September 7th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

I am so grateful to greet you and to hear from you. Thank you for telling me stories about Pinocchio and about the hen with the golden eggs. Pinocchio's story is very interesting because it teaches us that we must not lie. One of God's commandments is that we must not lie. I want to tell you that I went with my parents and my siblings to a park called Los Fundadores and we had a great time. Are there many parks in your country? What are their names? I attend the church at my project. It is called World Missionary Movement. What is the name of the church you go to? I give you the beautiful biblical promise in Matthew 19:14.

________________________________________________________________________________

Up next is a letter from my name-twin, Keyla. As seems to be pretty popular lately, she has written to me on the My Hobbies and Pets template.

Keyla is 8 years old, lives in Ecuador, and she wrote her letter on September 12th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

1. My favorite hobby is: To play tag

2. I enjoy my hobby with: My friends at church

3. I practice my hobby on: Saturday and Sunday

4. Do you have a pet? No, but I would like to have a cat someday.

Please pray, dear sponsor Kayla, for my dad who is sick. I want to thank you for the letter you sent. I also say thank you for the story and the picture to color. I am fine and I send you all my love.

________________________________________________________________________________

Next is a joyfully chatty letter from Ronaldo. It's been such a blessing getting to know this young man. I will certainly miss him when he graduates in just a few months.

Ronaldo is 21 years old, lives in Colombia, and his letter was written on September 11th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Hello Kayla,

How are you? May God bless you. I'm very happy to write to you. It is so good to hear the story of Jack and the magic beans. I also love the picture of the sun and moon you sent me to color. You make me relive my childhood! Kayla, I am health tutor at the project, but I am not actually with the children. I am in charge of keeping track of their medical check-up records. By the way, in the month of May, I had a routine medical check-up in the project and my mom was there with me. We were concerned because I was having some neck pain. The doctor prescribed some pills. We really liked knowing that it was nothing serious. Now that I am working at the project, I have realized how good it is to help others. I owe that much to you. May God reward you. Next time, could you tell me about some popular, fun event in your country? I ask you to pray for my family. I say goodbye to you sharing this verse with you from Proverbs 24:3. I love you.

Ronaldo

________________________________________________________________________________

We move onto a letter from Nicol, who I think it quite an amazing writer for such a young child. I can't wait to get to know her more and more over the years.

Nicol is 9 years old and lives in the Dominican Republic. Her letter is dated September 24th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Hello Dear Friend Kayla,

May the love of God be with you. My family and I are fine and healthy. Thank God I'm doing well at school. I've improved my reading. I'm working hard at it. I'm doing well spiritually. I'm learning that sin separates us from God. It doesn't reflect God's image on us. It's hurricane season in my country and the climate is unstable. We are under the storm Isaac's warning and it is raining a lot. It causes flooding the vulnerable zones, but where I live isn't affected, thank God. Thank you for your letter and the beautiful story and pictures. Is there a storm warning in you country this year? I ask you to please pray for the flooding in the vulnerable areas. I say goodbye with love.

Nicol

Shakilla is 6 years old and lives in Rwanda. Her letter is dated September 25th, 2018.

_______________________________________________________________________________

1. My holiday/school breaks are in the months of: April, August, November, and December

2. My school break last for: 2 weeks in the 1st and 2nd term and for 2 months during the 3rd term.

3. My favorite thing to do during my holiday/school break is: Playing with others

5. One thing I would like to during my holiday/school break is: Revising notes

6. One person I would like to visit during my holidays/school break is: My grandmother

Dear Kayla,

Your sponsored child greets you in the name of Jesus. She and her family are fine. She thanks you for your letter, which was full of thoughtful words. She is in the 3rd term at school. She got 82% marks in the 1st term and 80% marks in the 2nd term. Pray for her to improve. Her family sends you greetings.

Love,
Shakilla

Three Letter Tuesday: Volume 17

Today's three letters just happen to all come from Asia. So I think that's pretty cool!

We start today with a very first letter from Hansen. He is among the group of children that were transferred over to me from another correspondent sponsor, so parts of his letter are in response to letters written to him.

Hansen is 12 years old and lives in Indonesia. His letter is dated September 20th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Shalom Sister Kayla,

How are you doing over there? I am doing just fine here. I have heard and read about the Grand Canyon, but I have never seen it. I think the Grand Canyon is a great creation made my God. Bowling only exists in big cities and we don't have it in our city. I took a first aid training at the project. This training helped me a lot. I have never joined any VBS program. This year, I didn't do any special thing on my birthday. My parents simply prayed for me and I considered myself 12 years old. My family members are Sugiono, Febe, Kharis, and Eunike. My favorite thing to do is play games. My house is very comfortable because there is a garden behind it and there is a street in front of it. However, I feel hot sometimes because the glass windows are limited. That's all now for my letter. God bless you.

Regards,
Hansen

________________________________________________________________________________

We move onto a letter from the same country, but from a sweet girl named Prity this time.

Prity is 9 years old, is from Indonesia, and she wrote her letter on September 8th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Shalom,

Prity is happy to receive your letter. Hopefully you are doing well. My family and I are doing well. I am happy to read the story about the ugly duckling. It is a moral story and we are taught to not insult others even though they are different, because nobody knows what will happen in the future. Now I am in the 4th grade of primary school. Praise God that I got good outcomes in the last semester. Please pray for me to do well at school. My family and I always pray for you and family to be healthy and blessed in all your work.

Until I hear from you again, with love,
Prity

_________________________________________________________________________________

We end today with a letter entitled My Hobbies & Pets from Jaw-bu-keh.

Jaw-bu-keh is 7 years old and lives in Thailand. His letter is dated September 12th, 2018.

_________________________________________________________________________________

1. Some of my hobbies are: Playing sports and games

2. I like to do my hobbies with: My friends

3. Do you have a pet? No

Dear Kayla,

Hello, I am a project worker writing on behalf of Jaw-bu-keh because he is young and can't write by himself. He and his family would like to thank you for sending a gift. He spent the money on shoes and long pants. He keeps the remaining amount for pocket money. He is asking if you are fine. He and his family are doing well. He attends school every day. In his place, there was a wrist-tying ceremony. He enjoys attending project activities, singing songs, and dancing with his friends a lot. He is asking if there is a wrist-tying ceremony in your country. Finally, he would like to request that you pray for him and his family's work and health. May God bless you.

Love in Christ

Photos of Manna Mail Delivery Day: September 2018

Sending fun mail to my Manna boys is always such a pleasure.

But my hearts truly loves seeing photos of them receiving that mail.

During this last mailing, I was only able to send a short letter, but I sure hope it was still appreciated. I plan to send a much bigger and more fun for the upcoming Christmas letters.

Unfortunately, my boy Brayan was not at the center the day mail was handed out, so I do not have a new photo of him. But enjoy seeing my other nine handsome boys!

It's hard to tell from a photo, but my Jarlen seems to have gotten taller!

There is just something special about Carlos. I just can't say what it is. He just seems like such a joyful, young man!

Ivan is looking so grown up!

I swear half the photos I have of Noel are him looking suspicious. ;)

Angel is just the sweetest! He seems to love this style of shirt, button down with a fun pattern. I'm so happy to have found a fun one in this style, which I sent to him in his backpack.

Levi (and his brother Yesbin) appear to have gotten haircuts!

But they are still wearing those same shirts. I really hope the clothes they receive in the backpacks I sent fit on them.

Antony isn't looking like a baby anymore! He is a little boy now!

If that isn't the sweetest smile ever, I don't know what is. Defer is so adorable!

Five Letter Friday: Volume 17

It's that time of the week.

It's October 12th.

It snowed for 3 hours here today.

On October 12th.

Ridiculous.

But yet, I have five letters to share with you today.

Let's get down to business...

Today's first letter comes from Acram and it's written on the My Christian Learning template.

Acram is 7 years old, lives in Tanzania, and is dated September 15th, 2018.

_______________________________________________________________________________

2. My favorite Bible story is: Jonah and the big fish

3. My favorite bible verse is: Mark 10:14

4. My favorite thing I learned about Jesus is: Jesus loves children

5. When I pray to Jesus, I pray about: Peace, happiness, and good health

Acram says thank you so much for the nice letter that you sent him and his parents. He is on school holiday from 9-7 and the school will open again on 9-24.

________________________________________________________________________________

The next letter comes from Ayling, who apparently already has Christmas on her mind. Considering this letter was written in August, that's quite surprising.

Ayling is 11 years old and is from Nicaragua. Her letter is dated August 21st, 2018.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Hello Dear Sponsor Kayla,

I hope in God that you are in very good health. I am very happy to be able to write to you. I thank you for continuing to sponsor me and for the letters you have sent me. I tell you that my mom and I are happy because I'm going to graduate this year, in the same month that we celebrate Christmas. I will be finishing elementary school. It is an achievement reached, thanks to God. The month of December is very happy in my country because of Christmas. It is very colorful. How is Christmas celebrated in your country? I want to ask you if you have a favorite pet. I ask for your prayers for my family. I am always praying for you so that God will bless you and protect you. I say goodbye with much affection and hugs, waiting with joy for your next letter.

Attentively, your sponsored child,
Ayling

________________________________________________________________________________

Another letter from the same country, we now read a letter from Gary. He sent a really sweet drawing with this letter. Such a sweet young man.

Gary is 17 years old and lives in Nicaragua. He wrote this letter on August 10th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Hello Dear Sponsor Kayla,

Hello from your sponsored child, Gary. Thank you for your sponsorship. I expect you are in good health. Thank you for your letters and for all the stories you have shared. I am very happy about the story of Goldilocks. I have been excited about the story from the first time I read it in your letter. When I went home, the very same story was on television. I am happy at the project center. I am attending the classes at the project. My family is in good health, thank God. I attended a medical check-up and am waiting for the results. In Nicaragua, the situation has improved a little bit. You still have to be careful, because young people are a risk for being taken by gangs or be in the protests. The population still lives in chaos. I am very happy that you are doing well at your work with the children. I hope you enjoy your holidays with your family and friends. I want to ask you some questions. How are the children that you cared for previously? Are you attending church? On your days off, do you practice a sport? I tell you that the project soccer league started again and I will play with my classmates. I will wear jersey number 17. The jerseys will be black and red. I pray for you and your work so that God will help you and give you wisdom in a great way so that you can share it with the children. I say goodbye to you.

Your sponsored child,
Gary

_______________________________________________________________________________

Up next is a letter from Brisa. Her letter is written on the template entitled The Weather.

Brisa is 7 years old, lives in Nicaragua (a popular place in this post), and her letter is dated August 16th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

1. Nicaragua only has two seasons; rainy and dry. Right now we are in: Rainy Season

2. When the weather is sunny, I like to: Play outside

3. When the weather is rainy, I like to: Play in the rain

4. The problems with the rainy season are: Flooding

5. My favorite weather is: Rainy

Hello Dear Sponsor Kayla,

Good afternoon! God bless you. I want to tell you thank you for the sponsorship you are giving me. I am praying for you and your family. I want to tell you about an experience I had in school. From my teacher, I am learning to multiply and use a ruler. Also, I learned about the personal care of my body; that I have to wash my body, brush my teeth, and clean my nails. I like to learn how to take care of myself. I also learned I have to be a kind and respectful person; always helping people with a smile. I have not had the opportunity to learn to play piano, but I would like to someday. I am a good child with my mom and a good student at school and in the project. Hugs and kisses. Take care.

With Love,
Brisa

Five Letter Friday (On a Saturday): Volume 16

Well, it seems like posting a day late is a theme for this week. It's been a pretty high-anxiety and difficult week for me, so I'm not surprised things like blogging have fallen by the wayside. I will get back on track next week.

But since the week isn't over yet, I can still post five letters for you all to read.

We'll start with a letter from Rebecca, who is being her typical chatty self. I love that, of course!

Rebecca is 10 years old, lives in the Philippines, and her letter is dated August 18th, 2018.

Dear Ate Kayla,

Good day! How are you and your family? We are fine here. I joined the A1 Child Competition and I won. We are done with our English test and also the test in Values Education and I got perfect scores. I don't know about the other results. I sleep on the wooden floor and I place my foam mat on top. The distance between my house and the learning center is 3 km. Our water supply comes from the water district. What's your weather there? Until now, my father has not found a job because of his rheumatism. That's what it's hard for him to find work. Every October, I attend Girl Scout camping. What people here usually do during vacation is go to the beach to swim, but this time we are having a family reunion. Please pray for me so that I can submit all of my projects into school, like a world map. Thank you so much and God bless you.

Love,
Rebecca

Our next letter comes from the same country, from Jhonrex. This young man is so ridiculously inspiring to me. Even though he's now an adult, he continues to try to succeed in school. I know that it's been insanely hard for him. His perseverance is something I aspire to have.

Jhonrex is 18 years old, lives in the Philippines, and he wrote this letter on August 24th, 2018.

Dear Kayla,

Hi, I am thankful to God that you always send me a letter and I am thankful that you are always praying for me. I am doing fine in my studies and I'm now in 7th grade. Please pray for good health, especially for my mother's pregnancy this time around. How have you been? What course did you finish? Til' your next letter.

Respectfully Yours,
Jhonrex

Next is a letter from Brian, who seems to really enjoy the stories I've been sending this year. :)

Brian is 16 years old, lives in Kenya, and he wrote this letter on September 8th, 2018.

Dear Kayla,

It has been good hearing from you once more. I am so happy to hear that you are fine. I hope that your family is fine too. As for me and my family, we're doing fine. In my country is sometimes hot and sometimes cold. I got your letter and I really enjoyed reading it. The story about the prince and the princess, I really enjoyed. It was so funny, I even read it to my cousins. They enjoyed it too. We are now heading towards the longest holiday, which is in December, where we celebrate the birth of Jesus. I wish you all the best as you celebrate. Read Philippians 2:6-10.

Goodbye,
Brian

Dear Sponsor Kayla,

I greet you in the name of Jesus. I want to tell you that these months, I am well and am spending more time with my parents. I am excited because my 15th birthday is coming and here in Peru, it's an important day. I thank you for the story you wrote in the letter. I liked it a lot and it was the first time I had heard that story. It was funny. Do you like to read a lot? Please pray for me to do better in school and also for my family to be united always. I say goodbye with much love.

Jhojaira
