Three Letter Tuesday: Volume 24

Another Tuesday, another three wonderful letters to share.

:)

This first letter is from Mulwa. He is 11 years old, lives in Kenya, and he wrote this letter on November 8th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Mulwa salutes you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. He says he is moving on well together with his family. He hopes you and your family members are moving on well too. He says he is very happy because of the support you have been giving him. He says he has been receiving the letters that you've been sending to him. He receives the letters with a clean and joyful heart. He says he likes going to Sunday school to learn more about God. He says that at school he is putting forth a lot of effort to achieve his goals. He has done the end of term exams. Next year, he will be promoted to grade six. He says that he always prays for you to be blessed and he is requesting prayers from you for him to continue doing well. He likes the teachings you write to him about giving to others in their time of need.

________________________________________________________________________________

Next up is a letter from Kwizera. I love the verse he dedicated to me in this letter. It's a simple verse, but it also happens to be the verse of the month at the preschool that I teach at. Just something special, I think.

Kwizera is 13 years old and is from Rwanda. His letter is not dated.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

I foremost greet you and your family in the name of Jesus Christ. I was pleased by your letter. I was amazed by the story you wrote to me that a person must help someone else with things that person doesn't have. Here, it rains. We have finished doing the exams and soon we will go into holidays. Pray for me to succeed. I am happy to relay you verse John 3:16. I and my family are pleased with your letters. Thanks for the photos.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Five Letter Friday: Volume 15

Happy Friday! I don't know about you, but my week has just flown by! My preschool director just passed out our October calendars to hand out to our students and I can't believe that next week is October!

But, that does not halt the letter sharing! The love from children all over the world keeps pouring in!

Today's post will be a nice mix of younger/older, template letter/free-form letter. It should be fun!

We start with a letter from Kwizera. He is one of the kiddos who really seems to love being paired up with another one of my children as a prayer partner. Whenever I send Kwizera info about his prayer partner Mulwa, he always responds!

Kwizera is 13 years old and lives in Rwanda. His letter is dated August 29th, 2018.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Kayla,

Warm greetings in the name of Jesus Christ from your child and my family! I am happy to write this letter to you today, to let you know how I am doing with my family. All is well in my country. We have started the raining season and people are growing beans. School is going well. We have just started the third term. I hope to get good grades. Please pray for me to perform well. I was thrilled with the new picture of Mulwa that you sent to me, telling me about his birthday. It pleased me so much. Please tell him I wish him a happy birthday. I love him and pray for him. My birthday is on November 15th. I will turn 14 years old. I was very pleased by your letter. I am happy to hear how you are doing with your family. I am constantly praying for God to fulfill your needs. May peace and blessings be upon you. Thank you for always thinking of me. May God continue watching over you. I end here, thanking you for your love and kind heart. My family and I are thankful for you.

________________________________________________________________________________

This next letter is from Muzuro. His letter makes me chuckle a bit because it almost seems like a homework assignment of sorts. I sent all of my kids the story of Pinocchio in a recent letter and Muzuro wrote back with a short summary of the story. There is just something about that that I love so much! He really took the lessons from the story to heart and applied them to his life. It's wonderful!

Muzuro is 15 years old, lives in Uganda, and he wrote this letter on August 30th, 2018.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

I am very happy with the story you sent me this time. The story was very interesting and I read it together with my friends. What I learned from this story is that we should listen to our parents. If you listen to Gepetto, you will someday be a real boy. So I learned that if we listen to our parents, we will be blessed. But if we don't listen to our parents, our future will be incomplete. And from the other part that says, "In the morning, he was happy to Pinocchio alive! He gave Pinocchio some money to buy books for school and told him to go straight to school without stopping." But then some bad boys stopped Pinocchio. So I learned that when we are on our way to school, or another place, and we see a bad group of people, we should run away from them because otherwise you could be raped or killed. We should be careful on our way. And if our parents give us money for school supplies, we should use it well.

So I am very happy to read this story and I learned many things. I want you to send another story to improve my life. May the Lord bless you. Thanks a lot!

_________________________________________________________________________________

We're halfway through our scheduled programming and it's time for a template letter!

This letter is from Yeraini and she is telling me about her favorite sport.

Yeraini is 6 years old, is from the Dominican Republic, and her letter was written on September 3rd, 2018.

_________________________________________________________________________________

1. The sport I play the most of is: Baseball

2. My favorite baseball team is: The Licey Tigers

3. I practice my sport at: My backyard

4. I play my sport with: My friends

5. My favorite sport player is: Erick

Dear Kayla,

Yeraini sends her greetings with much love and affection. She hopes you are very well. She is happy with the letter about Jack's story that you sent her. She says it is a very nice story. Please pray for her family, friends, and community.

Love,
Yeraini

________________________________________________________________________________

Up next is a short letter from my boy Enmanuel. He's so funny. I just really think he hates writing. He has much better things to do!

Enmanuel is 10 years old and also lives in the Dominican Republic. His letter is dated September 4th, 2018.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Dear Sponsor,

I write this letter to tell you about me. I did well in school. Classes are back and my first few days of school were good. I like to watch lots of games on TV. I want to see a picture of your family.

Enmanuel

_________________________________________________________________________________

We end with another short letter from another boy who must not like writing very much. ;)

This time, from Baraka, who is 9 years old, from Kenya. His letter is dated September 1st, 2018.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

Baraka greets you in Jesus' name. He appreciates your letter very much. He says he is doing okay at school and at home. He thanks you very much for the support you give towards him. He wishes you God's blessings in your endeavors.

Kayla,

Receive greetings from your child Sandra, who is telling you that is okay with all of her family members. She is also telling you that she liked the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The center teacher read it to her. Even her parents were very happy while reading the story. She also liked the pictures.

_______________________________________________________________________________

This next letter is from my boy Kwizera. He wrote both of these letters on the same day, so he clearly had a lot to say! He recently changed projects and this letter explains why.

Hilariously enough, Kwizera seems to think that the story about Goldilocks and the Three Bears is about my own family members.

Kwizera is 13 years old and lives in Rwanda. His letter is dated June 18th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

I greet you and your family in the name of Jesus Christ. I'm glad to write you this letter. Here in Rwanda we are doing fine. We are in the dry season and our weather is very hot. We have planted sorghum and they are now ready to harvest. At school we are now in the 2nd term and we have one month until we start exams. Then we'll start 3rd term. With my family, we pray for you and love you so much. Concerning my project, I have transferred to a new project in a Baptist church. I am glad for your letter and the news that tells me about you. Telling me that you daughter went to go visit her grandmother, passing through the forest. I am glad you told me a really interesting story.

Thank you!
Kwizera

We'll close out today's post with a letter from Mariza, who wrote to me on the My Project template.

Five Letter Friday: Volume 3

It's currently 11:00 p.m on Thursday night. I was going to head to bed and then I remembered that I vowed to start sharing five letters every Friday, mostly for my own sanity, but also because I think people may actually like to read them. ;)

Since I work pretty much all day, every day, I typically type up blog posts ahead of time and schedule them to post at a specific time. So I figured I couldn't just go to bed and get behind on this series, especially since this will only be the 3rd week... It's too early to fail on this plan. Here we go!

We start with a letter from Ernest. I typically don't get too many personal details from this guy, but this letter comes with the exciting news of a new sibling. Whoo hoo!

Ernest is 12 years old and he lives in Ghana. His letter is dated May 12th, 2018.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

Ernest says that he thanks you for your sponsorship. May God bless you. He says his mother has given birth to a baby boy. He says he loves the story that you sent him about the goats crossing the bridge. Ernest says that he wants you to pray to God for protection over his life and his family. He says he continues to pray for God to bless your family and bless your hands in your work and may He shine His face over you and your family. He shares Ephesians 6:1, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right."

_________________________________________________________________________________

Next up is a letter from my little Tern, who recently had a photo update and is not actually so little anymore. Okay, he's still super little, age wise, but he seems to have gone through a growth spurt since his last photo. He writes this letter on the My House template.

Tern is 5 years old, lives in Thailand, and he wrote this letter on April 24th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

1. In my house, I sleep on: A bed

2. Is there electricity in my house: Yes

3. I get food from: The market

4. My house is made of: Half cement, half wood

5. My house has a floor made of: Cement

6. My house has a roof made of: Iron

Dear Kayla,

Hello, I am project staff writing to you on behalf of Title (Maybe another nickname? I've been given so many for him!). Now the school is closed for the holiday. He went to live with his parents in another province for the holiday. His parents took him to the ocean. He will come back again when school starts. Where are you going in the summer? Please pray for Title's studies as well. He will soon be going to 1st grade. May you be happy and may God bless you.

_________________________________________________________________________________

The next letter for today is from Yohannis, He seems to be quite the intelligent boy (and maybe a bit of an overachiever) in school. Good for him!

Yohannis is 9 years old, lives in Ethiopia, and his letter is dated May 29th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

My Dear Beloved Kayla,

How are you doing? Thanks to God, I am doing very well with my family. I like the song which says, "Children clap your hands and praise the Lord." Thank you very much for the Bible passage you shared with me from 1 Peter 3:15. I love you very much. I am attending my Grade 2 class well. I got 4th rank in the first semester. Now I am doing my best to score an even better result in the second semester and pass to Grade 3. I need your prayers as well. My little brother has grown now. I will send you his photo if you need it. Please pray for my education. Until my next letter, be well. Good bye.

Yours,
Yohannis

________________________________________________________________________________

Now we just up a bit in age and hear from one of my young ladies. This letter from Emanise is a treasure. She asks some great questions that I am looking forward to answering.

Emanise is 18 years old, she lives in Haiti and she wrote this letter on April 28th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

I take advantage of this opportunity to greet you. How are you, your friends, and your family doing? As for me, it is very well, thanks to God. I want to share a verse with you, from Psalm 39:14. How are Chloe and Gage? I'd like to hear about them. What's new? Do you have any new friends? May God keep you all your life long. Thank you for your support and for thinking of me. Thank you for the letters and gifts. Thank you for everything! I ask you to never forget or neglect me in your prayers. I'll pray for you as well.

Your Friend,
Emanise

_________________________________________________________________________________

We'll end today's post with a letter from Kwizera. This guy has certainly become chatty after all these years of us writing to each other. I have actually been hearing from him a lot lately, more than just every two months. Whoo hoo!

Kwizera is 13 years old and he lives in Rwanda. He wrote this letter on May 17th, 2018.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

I love you so much, my parent. I and my family foremost greet you in Jesus name. How are you doing? We love you so much. How is your country? Here, it is the rainy season and it is raining too heavily, destroying crops, houses, and killing people. At school, we are now in the 2nd term. I was very happy to see your photos. I was so glad to hear about the stories you've shared with me. May God bless you so much, my parent. Next year, I'll be promoted to Senior 3. I and my parents like that you write letters to send to us. I and my mother like the parable stories very much. The two parables we liked were the one about the girl who traveled to visit her grandmother and passed through a big forest, but before she left her mother warned her not to talk to anyone in the forest. I was very happy to hear that the girl did not get bitten by the wolf. I also loved the story about the 3 goats and the troll. The goats were attacked by the troll, but the big goat hit the troll with his horns. God protected the goats.

Your Loved One,
Kwizera

Attempt Catch Up #2

Well, it's been nearly two weeks since I last did a major post like this. That time, it was just with template letters. I originally intended for this post to be just non-template letters. However, I seem to have many more little kids in my family these days, and just don't have enough non-template letters to share. So this post will be a mixture of everything.

Well, we'll start with a letter from Agness. She wasn't feeling extremely chatty in this letter. ;)

Agness is 14 years old and lives in Tanzania. Her letter is dated March 10th, 2018.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

I greet you in the name of Jesus. I would like to inform you that in the near future, we are going to sit for our midterm exams, before the Easter holiday. I request your prayers that I do well. I hope all is well with you. I do not have much to say. Please extend my regards to Gage and Chloe.

Your Beloved,
Agness

_________________________________________________________________________________

I was very glad to hear of the tree that gives light of green color. I am glad that you will celebrate Easter in your country.

From,
Kwizera

_________________________________________________________________________________

Onto a letter from little Shakilla. I am going to say this is the first letter I've received from her, because I'm pretty sure it is. However, I'm not going to look back into my records right now and find out if that is actually true. So, if you have seen another letter from Shakilla on this blog, then disregard what I said. ;)

Now I'll share a letter from Hillary, who is writing to me about his Holiday/School Break. I think the template letters from this country are my favorite. They are always long and leave the questions very open ended, for the kids to write what they want. The multiple choice templates are good enough, but they don't give the kids much chance to think of their own answers.

Hillary is 7 years old and lives in Kenya. His letter is dated March 24th, 2018.

Hello Kayla,

Thank you for writing to me. I am well with my family. I love your story about the goats. They were very brave to cross the bridge. It is a funny story. I have a memory verse from Genesis 1:1.

Yours,
Hillary

I go to the beach with my tutor and companions. I also go to the beach with my family. The arcade games there are very beautiful. How many pets do you have? I always read Psalm 91 because there the Lord tells me he takes care of me and that He's my caregiver. What's your favorite verse? My favorite color is purple. What's your favorite color? On what day is Christmas celebrated in you country? I ask you to pray for my family so that God will touch their hearts and for the peace of God to be in my home. Up next is a very first letter from Muzuro! He has quite a large family! I always appreciate when first letters list family members. Sometimes it can be like pulling teeth to get that information later on. I also love that in his large family, Muzuro is the baby. :)

_________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

Greetings to you in Jesus name. I would like to thank God for the protection that he has given unto us. May his name be praised! I want to tell about some of my favorite things. My favorite color is red, as you have also written. My favorite foods are beans and posho. As you have told me to mention my family members names. Firstly, we are nine members. My father's name is Isaac and my mother's name is Nema. Now I will write first born up to last born. Our first born is Joyce, then Samuel, Moses, Gloria, Beatrice, Godwill, and lastly, me, Muzuro Michael. I am the last born in the family.

I want to thank God for the letter you sent me. You must tell Anju that I will pray for him. And he must not forget prayers. Prayer is the only way to heaven and he must love one another. He must return to Christ so that Christ can forgive him.

Now let me introduce myself to my friend Anju. My name is Muzuro Michael. My country is Uganda. I am 14. My favorite subject is science. I like dancing, riding a bike, and soccer.

Two letters to go!

This next one is from Kwizera Yves. He's never been a big chatterbox, but after all these years, he seems to be opening up about details more and more. I definitely appreciate that.

Kwizera Yves is 12 years old and from Rwanda. This letter is dated December 2nd, 2017.

To My Parent Whom I Love A Lot,

I greet you first in the name of Jesus Christ. We have rain in Rwanda. We had a bicycle competition in Rwanda and it's called The Tour du Rwanda. We are remaining with a few days before celebrating Christmas on the 25th. I was pleased by your good photos. I thank you for your good letter. It pleased me so much. I feel happy with my family.

And we end this post (and this series, for real this time) with a letter from Rodrigo. It'd be over four months since I last heard from him, which is totally unusual for Compassion letters these days. He must have missed a letter writing day at his project. His letter is on the How I Have Fun template.

Rodrigo is 7 years old, from Bolivia. His letter was written on November 18th, 2017.

2+2=4

Double the love from Rwanda. Then double the love from Colombia.

Four letters with a ridiculous amount of love.

Man, I love my kids.

Let's start with a letter from Kwizera, who just turned 13 year old today. This letter is not dated, but no doubt written when he was still 12 years old. ;)

Dear Kayla,

I foremost greet you in Jesus's name. I and my family are fine and we thank God. How are you and your family doing? At school, I am studying well and we are now preparing for the end of the year exams. Pray for me to succeed. To respond to your questions: I most like to wear long trousers and t-shirts. Our house has three rooms and it is built with burnt bricks. I thank you for sending me a letter. My family and I loved it. To my friend Erick, I advise him to respect his elders. To close, I wish you the peace of God. May God bless you.

My other 13 year old from Rwanda is Jule. A sweet boy that I am still getting to know. I love this letter that shares some more things about him. This letter is dated October 14th, 2017.

Dear Kayla,

I first greet you in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. My family and I are doing well. No problems. I'm doing well at school. I like the lessons in math, physics, and chemistry. It is raining here and we are growing crops. I like playing soccer with my fellow kids and I hope to be a great player in the future. I'm learning baptism classes at church. I like to pray. I thank you for the letter you sent to me, sharing with me your updates. I saw a solar eclipse once and it was beautiful, but also scary. I like Isaiah 40:26. Please pray for my studies. We pray blessings over you. Conclusively, may God bless you.

Jule

Now we move onto some big "kids" from Colombia. I just love these young adults so much. They have such great things to say and great outlooks for the future. I thank God for Compassion helping to instill this confidence in these wonderful young people!

Let's start with a letter from Lina, who is 18 years old. Her letter was written on June 22nd, 2017 (no idea what took so long to arrive!).

Dear Kayla,

I greet you in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. I want to tell you that my school vacation is in the month of June. My vacation lasts 21 days. During my vacation, I often come to the CDC and stay home with my family. What I enjoy doing most on my vacation is reading, listening to music, and going on trips with my friends. On my vacation I like to eat a lot and my favorite food is fried fish. My favorite people to spend my vacation with are my mom and my sister. On my next vacation, I would like to travel to another country. I would like to visit Panama and France some day. Those are two of my favorite countries. I would like to go around and learn more about their people and culture. What city in the world would you like to visit? I want to thank you for looking after me by doing your monthly contribution to the CDC, for your letters, and for the presents. I want to tell you that I am now studying in nursing school and I'm doing very well. In the future, I'd like to do something I'd really like, which is to be a pediatrician. I like children very much and would really like to work with them. I say goodbye with a big hug and wishing that God blesses you. I ask you to keep praying for me and for my family. I want to give you this Bible verse: Malachi 3:16.

Lina

And to end, a letter from Ronaldo. It's been such a blessing getting to know this young man. He seems like such a kind, sensitive, and smart guy.

He is 20 years old and wrote this letter on July 20th, 2017.

Dear Kayla,

My very remembered Kayla, how are you? Right now I have the letter you sent me in my hands. Gage and Chloe are beautiful. Tell them I say hello. Thank you for sharing their photo with me. I tell you that right now in my country, we are on a school break. We have two months of break, June and July. I use this time to visit relatives and practice soccer with my cousins in the evening. I like to eat seasoned rice with chicken. I love it! My parents and brother are almost always with me. I confess something; one day I would like to visit your country to see the most popular places and to take photos of me with some people there. Kayla, I am very thankful to you for being so special to me. I keep you present in my prayers. I ask you something: Have you ever thought about coming to my country? I ask you to keep my family in your prayers.

Ronaldo
