Five Letter Friday: Volume 15

Happy Friday! I don't know about you, but my week has just flown by! My preschool director just passed out our October calendars to hand out to our students and I can't believe that next week is October!

But, that does not halt the letter sharing! The love from children all over the world keeps pouring in!

Today's post will be a nice mix of younger/older, template letter/free-form letter. It should be fun!

We start with a letter from Kwizera. He is one of the kiddos who really seems to love being paired up with another one of my children as a prayer partner. Whenever I send Kwizera info about his prayer partner Mulwa, he always responds!

Kwizera is 13 years old and lives in Rwanda. His letter is dated August 29th, 2018.

Kayla,

Warm greetings in the name of Jesus Christ from your child and my family! I am happy to write this letter to you today, to let you know how I am doing with my family. All is well in my country. We have started the raining season and people are growing beans. School is going well. We have just started the third term. I hope to get good grades. Please pray for me to perform well. I was thrilled with the new picture of Mulwa that you sent to me, telling me about his birthday. It pleased me so much. Please tell him I wish him a happy birthday. I love him and pray for him. My birthday is on November 15th. I will turn 14 years old. I was very pleased by your letter. I am happy to hear how you are doing with your family. I am constantly praying for God to fulfill your needs. May peace and blessings be upon you. Thank you for always thinking of me. May God continue watching over you. I end here, thanking you for your love and kind heart. My family and I are thankful for you.

This next letter is from Muzuro. His letter makes me chuckle a bit because it almost seems like a homework assignment of sorts. I sent all of my kids the story of Pinocchio in a recent letter and Muzuro wrote back with a short summary of the story. There is just something about that that I love so much! He really took the lessons from the story to heart and applied them to his life. It's wonderful!

Muzuro is 15 years old, lives in Uganda, and he wrote this letter on August 30th, 2018.

Dear Kayla,

I am very happy with the story you sent me this time. The story was very interesting and I read it together with my friends. What I learned from this story is that we should listen to our parents. If you listen to Gepetto, you will someday be a real boy. So I learned that if we listen to our parents, we will be blessed. But if we don't listen to our parents, our future will be incomplete. And from the other part that says, "In the morning, he was happy to Pinocchio alive! He gave Pinocchio some money to buy books for school and told him to go straight to school without stopping." But then some bad boys stopped Pinocchio. So I learned that when we are on our way to school, or another place, and we see a bad group of people, we should run away from them because otherwise you could be raped or killed. We should be careful on our way. And if our parents give us money for school supplies, we should use it well.

So I am very happy to read this story and I learned many things. I want you to send another story to improve my life. May the Lord bless you. Thanks a lot!

Three Letter Tuesday: Volume 14

When I first started doing these posts, I figured I would run out of letters and have to discontinue them. However, the opposite has happened. I have such a backlog of letters to blog that I could probably add another day of the week to this series and still have a backlog. I'm not going to add another day, but I have A LOT of letters. It's really such a blessing.

I will keep my letter posts to twice a week, so if these posts are your cup of tea, check back every Tuesday and Friday. :)

The first letter of today's post is from Milkias. It's not a super detailed letter, but I did get to find out how he spent his birthday money, which is always exciting.

Milkias is 13 years old, lives in Ethiopia, and his letter was written on July 10th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

My Beloved Sponsor,

How are you doing along with your family? My family and I are doing well. I am very happy and thankful for your letter. I would like to thank you a lot for your gift money. Shoes, trousers, a t-shirt, slippers, and a shirt were bought for me. May God bless you! I am very happy to be sponsored by you. I would like to thank you a lot for all your other support. See you with the next letter. I love you. Goodbye.

Yours,
Milkias

________________________________________________________________________________

The next letter is from Faith. Her letters go back and forth between between detailed and chatty to just being more general letters. Pre-teens!

Faith is 12 years old, is from Kenya, and her letter is dated August 13th, 2018.

________________________________________________________________________________

Hello My Dear Kayla,

I salute you in the name of Jesus Christ. How are you? I hope and trust all is fine. On my side, I am fine in the Lord. God has been faithful to me and I thank him for everything. My dear, I am happy for the letter you sent me. I read the good story of Jack and the Beanstalk. It was very interesting and I enjoyed reading it. Also the pictures were good. I really appreciated them. In the story I learned not to be greedy with everything; to hold onto what you have for it is enough. Otherwise, I wish you all the best and I thank you very much for all your support. May the Lord bless you very much. My family members are fine and good, but please keep praying for us, as I do to you.

Bye,
Faith

Letters to My Kids: August 2018

I stuck with my Popular Children's Stories theme in August and I shared the story of the Princess and the Pea with my kids.

I myself have always thought this was a funny story when I was a child, because it's just so ridiculous. I hope it made my Compassion kids laugh, as well.

Another Pack Joins the Family!

I fully intended on taking on any more correspondent children after taking over my friend's large group of kids.

However, it seems there were other plans in the works.

A company sponsored a large group of 1,000 children! First off, I am always amazed when companies do that! You have to be a pretty successful, and also generous company, to spend $38,000 a month in sponsorship fees. Seriously.

All of those children needed correspondent sponsors. Well, when I saw the offer, I just could not resist. I asked for four kids. I received four adorable girls.

Akpene from Togo

Irene from Kenya

Kiara from Honduras

Maryorie from Honduras

After all of the requests for this large group of children were assessed and assigned, there were still many children needing correspondents. So a second wave of assignments began. And I received four more kiddos; boys this time.

Habtamu from Ethiopia

Jhonny from El Salvador

Kevin from El Salvador

Shallom from Indonesia

So, there you have it, eight new family members. I want to swear that I am done adding kids to my family until some kids start to graduate, but who am I kidding? Who knows what's going to happen? I just can't resist those cute kids needing people to write to them!

Five Letter Friday: Volume 13

We're two weeks into the preschool year and things seem to be settling in very nicely. With that said, I think I'll be able to manage some other blog posts besides just these Tuesday and Friday letter posts.

I definitely want to introduce some new correspondent kiddos. As well as share the letters I wrote last month to my kids. So be on the look out for those.

With that said, it's time to share another five letters today. We'll start with a letter from Jhonrex. I really admire this young man. I've been writing to him for years and he's, essentially, been in middle school that whole time. He spent a few years out of school and then went back. School is very difficult for him, but he never gives up. I'm not so sure I'd have the same persistence in the same situation.

Jhonrex is 18 years old, lives in the Philippines, and his letter is dated July 14th, 2018.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Kayla,

Hello. How are you there? About me here, thanks for your prayers. I am now in school and in Grade 7. This time, I will do my very best. Thank you for you unending support. Thank you also for your letters. I'm so happy about them. Thank you for the story of The Ugly Duckling. Yes, God loves us no matter what. I am blessed. Thank you also for the birthday gift money. I bought some t-shirts and some groceries.

About here in our Center, our classes have started already. There are some changes here. We have new TVs and new electric fans. Our walls now have new designs. It looks very nice.

Please pray that I really will be able to finish school this year. Also that God will give me strength and good health, together with my family. How many times a day do you pray? I share Psalm 23:1, "The Lord is my shepherd. I shall lack nothing."

Respectfully Yours,
Jhonrex

Five Letter Friday: Volume 12

We survived the first week of preschool! We had some tough moments, as well as some brilliantly amazing moments. I'm looking forward to the year!

The blessings kept pouring in in letter form. So let's share five letters today!

Today's first letter comes from one of my newest guys, Dharshan Kumar. His letter came so fast after receiving him. Judging from what he said in this letter, it seems that he used to have a sponsor that wrote to him and thinks that I'm that I'm that person. I hope I can live up to his letter writing standards!

Dharshan Kumar is 10 years old, lives in Sri Lanka, and he wrote his letter on July 17th, 2018.

Yours,

I'm back to school and I'm in Grade 2 now. Please pray for me. I always pray for you and hope the best for you and your family. Greetings in love.

Next we read a letter from Anny. I recently acquired a large group of kids from a friend and Anny was one of those kids. This letter was technically written to my friend, but was passed along to me. It's full of good information, so I'm grateful to have it!

Anny is 11 years old. She lives in Guatemala. Her letter is dated July 18th, 2018.

Dear Sponsor,

I hope you are healthy. Thank you for all the letters you have sent me. I feel very blessed for your support. The sport I like best is basketball. It is healthy to exercise. I would like to travel to Colombia, see the museums, and other tourist places and to know the culture. I would like to meet Ricardo Arjano and Gabi Moreno because they are great Guatemalan singers. I would like to play piano and guitar at my church. Thank God I passed my grade and I was promoted to 6th grade. My brother Cristian turned 4 in May. It was also my birthday and my family celebrated it. I am happy to read your letter. I am in the dance group at my church and we praise God through dances. Regarding your questions, thank God I am good and healthy. There are large, medium, and small furry mice where I live. People are not scared of them. They just kill them. I went to school to participate in a play and then I came back to my house. I do not receive English class at my school. Thank God my family is fine. We went to church to pray for others. I celebrated my birthday on Sunday and ate cake with my family. I play Chinese Checkers with my uncle Juan and my aunt Fidelina. What instrument do you like to play? What place in the world would you like to visit? Please pray for my cousins, uncles, grandparents, my mom, and my aunts Ana and Yolanda. My mom's name is Lidia. Thank you for everything. I say goodbye and wish you blessing and success in your life.

Dear Friend Kayla,

How are you and your family? I hope you are fine. How is the climate over there? I'm doing very good in school. I went out with my sister this summer. We went to the museum. I spent summer in the project. I'm going to have an interesting summer and I will look for approval right after I finish this letter. What is your favorite music genre? I'm doing well in the summer Bible school. Please pray for my family.

With Love,
Marinelis

We'll end with a general letter from my boy Mulwa. He continues to have a tutor write for him, even at his age. Unfortunately, I've stopped learning details about him. Each letter seems to be like the last one, just hearing basic information. Maybe it will change in the future.

Mulwa is 11 years old, he lives in Kenya, and he wrote this letter on August 13th, 2018.

Mulwa salutes you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. He says he is getting on well with his family members. He hopes that you and your family members are also getting on well. He says he is still putting in a lot of efforts in his studies. He says they have done the end of term exam and have closed school for the holiday. He says he likes attending the project because it allows him to grow spiritually, physically, and mentally. He says he is very happy and grateful for the letters which you have been sending to him. He also appreciates the support you have been giving to him. He says he likes going to Sunday school to learn more about God. He says that he is praying for you and is requesting from you, to continue doing well in school. He says may the Lord bless you.
