A couple of weeks ago, Compassion announced that there were 300 children who needed correspondent sponsors. I asked for two new kids, a boy and a girl, to be added to my account. Today, I was blessed to "meet them" I would like to introduce them to you.
This beautiful girl is Khushi. She is 9 years old and from India. She is from a community that is actually IN the Himalayan mountains. Cold!!! Her birthday is September 24th. She is in 2nd grade. She lives with her mother, who is unemployed, and her father, who is a laborer. Khushi helps at home by making beds and buying/selling in the market. For fun, she likes to play hide-and-seek and play house.
I am already in love with her. It's like a match made in heaven. First, her shirt says Target on it, which is my absolute favorite store. And! She's wearing Converse low tops, which are the only types of shoes I wear. I plan to tell her all about how I wear the same type of shoes.
Also, I'd like you to meet Karanja, from Kenya. I have always wanted a child from Kenya, but have not been called sponsor there. I am so excited to get to know this guy! He is 13 years old and will turn 14 on July 6th (Just like my Florenc!). Karanja is in 6th grade, with average performance. His guardian is his mother. His parents are separated and his father is no longer supporting or living with the family. His mother works as a farmer. Karanja helps at home by cleaning, caring for animals, and carrying water. Hard work for such a young man. For fun, Karanja likes to run, play hide-and-seek, and play ball games.
I am so excited to get to know these two beautiful children!
God must really be up to something with you and India ;) My Kenyan children are so charming and are some of my best writers! You will have so much fun with your new guy :)
ReplyDeleteOh, you are right, I already know that God has something special planned for me and India. I don't exactly know what it is yet, but I know that I will be visiting there as soon as I can...and maybe staying there for awhile? I have no idea!
DeleteI sponsor a girl from the Himalayas too, through World Vision! She's in ADP Himalaya (in India). I'm actually curious to know my girl's ethnicity as she actually looks like she might be Tibetan or Chinese. But at any rate, I love sponsoring in that area! It's so interesting!
ReplyDeleteI started sponsoring with Compassion a month ago. I chose an almost 19-year old from Indonesia. I also have two correspondence kids: one in Ghana and one in the Philippines. I requested one from "the 300" but didn't do it until several days after, so I'm not sure if I'll get one or not. I'm enjoying Compassion so far because of the online letter writing tool...I love the templates and the fact that you can attach photos. SO much easier!
Also...I think it's cool that you always seem to get a child from India. ;)
I'd be willing to bet that your child is part Tibetan. Many people in the North-Eastern part of India have inter-married with Tibetan people. I think they make the most beautiful babies! It also could be Chinese, but that's a little further away from India.
DeleteAnd yes, God definitely has a plan with me and India.
Wow! They're both beautiful! That's awesome that you got 2 new kids! I also asked for another around that time, but I went on the 2nd list rather than one of the 300 since i'm not from the US.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your special new relationships :D
I agree with you wholeheartedly, haha. They are certainly both beautiful! Everytime I sponsor or I'm assigned a new child, I just feel so much love for them. I can't wait to get to know these precious children.
