So far, this month, I have only had 4 letters. With the month only being halfway through, I hope to receive some more before the end.
This week, I received two letters. The first letter I will share is from Faith. I was so happy to receive this letter because it had been 7 whole months since I last heard from her. Faith isn't typically a very chatty girl, but this short letter does have some good details in it.
Faith is 10 years old and lives in Kenya. Her letter is dated June 11th, 2016.

Dear Kayla,
How are you, my dear sponsor? I am going well with my brothers and sisters here at home. It is my prayer that you are fine and healthy too. I am happy for the letter you sent to me. I was happy to hear from you. Here in Compassion, we are going on well and we are learning the word of God. We go to Compassion every Saturday. In my class we are 36 pupils. At school, I am doing well. Pray for me to keep on improving. In my leisure time I like playing rope skipping with my friends. I also like drawing and coloring pictures. May God bless you. Receive much greetings from my brothers and my sisters. They love you too. Greet all of your family members.

Next, a letter from Nikko. This is my second letter in two months from Nikko. These letters date back a bit, but that shows me that he has continued to write to me, the letters have just been delayed with the new system. Hopefully I have a one or two still on the way.
In his letter, Nikko responds to the letter I wrote about Jesus' 12 disciples being young men, not the old men we typically picture. He really seems to like that letter. I'm not sure who shared it first, but thank you for posting it, so I could use it too!
Nikko is 17 years old and lives in the Philippines. He wrote this letter on June 4th, 2016.

Hello dear sponsor! How have you been? I would like to thank you again for your letters that I received today.
You're asking me about Jesus' 12 disciples and yes, you are right, I was thinking of old men with grey beards and I am surprised to know that they were not. Thanks for sharing about some things about Jesus. I am glad to have another learning that I got from you. Thank you also for praying for us here always. I am really happy to hear that. Yes, we restarted school. We had activities there. We got the chance to express ourselves and what's in our hearts and bond with my classmates. I am glad to experience that one day. Last Christmas, I received a ball, hair wax, and boxer shorts for presents. summer has just ended and we are experiencing rainy days, but I thank God, for it is a blessing. Thank for sharing your verse. I would like to share one with you also. It is 2 Corinthians 3:18. God bless you.

I just started sponsoring with Compassion again after pulling my support from World Vision due to the Gaza financial issue. A lot has changed since I last sponsored with them! I love the new letter system of everything being online but I see a lot of talk about a slowdown. I'm assuming that has to do with the roll-out of the new system? Has Compassion made any indication that they're getting it fixed?
ReplyDeleteI just sponsored 4 girls in early August (and I have three correspondents at the moment), so I'm assuming I shouldn't be expecting any letters for a long, looooong time. *sigh*
The new letter system just started in April and had a TON of errors and glitches. Letters from sponsor to child were hitting a traffic jam and not getting through. Due to this, kids weren't writing back. However, just over the last two month, letters have been getting to our kids, so they are now writing back. The system is much faster now than it was when it first started and should continue to improve. The tech team at Compassion has literally been working nights and weekends to get the glitches sorted out. I completely trust Compassion.
ReplyDeleteI think that you should be getting letters faster than you think. Since April, some of kids have been writing like clockwork and other countries have been taking a bit longer to figure out the new system. Each country is now in charge of the system themselves, which before, all letters went to Colorado first and then to sponsors. Letters now go from each country to our accounts, directly, so the major change has been confusing to many countries. It is being sorted out, and I have heard of several of my kids many times. I don't think you'll have to wait as long as you think you will.
Awesome. Thanks for all of the information. I have three kids in Guatemala, one in Nicaragua, one in Thailand, one in the DR, and one in Indonesia. I'm looking forward to getting some letters through this new system. I really love that everything is online.
