Samantha is sponsored!
Isn't she so pretty?!
This beauty is Ayelu. She is 17 years old and lives in Ethiopia. Her birthday is November 26th. She lives with her uncle, who works as a laborer (probably in the factory), her aunt, and 4 other children (they could be siblings or cousins). Ayelu started school late and is only in middle school, but she has above average performance! She enjoys jumping rope and listening to music.
Ayelu lives in a community that is very large and very crowded. Adults travel to this community to get a job at a local factory. Unfortunately, the work at the factory is hard, the hours are long, and people only earn about $22 a month. Education in this area is very expensive and most families can't afford to send their children. When kids are enrolled in Compassion, they are also enrolled in school, most for the very first time.
Her sad faces just grabs at my heart.
Meet Jenninah. She has had a few very short-term sponsors lately and could really use somebody to support her in her last few remaining years in the program. She is 19 years old and lives in Uganda. Her birthday is January 13th. She lives with her parents, who both work as laborers, and her 5 siblings. She enjoys singing, telling stories, and art. She participates in church activities, choir, and youth group. Busy young lady!
Jenninah's community is located in the hills, in a rural area. Most families in the area rely on farming, but earn very little money, only about $6 a month. Most people have to supplement their income with hours working as a laborer. Unfortunately, schools are ill-equipped and teachers often aren't properly trained, so when children graduate, they aren't properly prepared for high-paying jobs. Thankfully, Compassion is there to tutor and supplement education.
Beautiful young ladies! I hope they're sponsored quickly!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Samantha has already been sponsored. Good for her!
ReplyDeleteShe was! I saw her on Compassion sponsorship tracking page. Somebody named Oscar is her new sponsor. Go Oscar!
DeleteJust curious...what's the sponsorship tracking page? Is that something for advocates?
DeleteNope. Just the dashboard on the Compassion page. http://www.compassion.com/become-a-sponsor-dashboard/
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! I never realized that was there!
DeleteI love it! I check it multiple times a day! It's fun to see how many kids are sponsored each day (from the website, at least). It's also great to see if my prayer children end up on the site.
