First Letters with the New System

I didn't write a specific post on it (several other people did, though), but Compassion has unleashed their new writing system. All letters now will be scanned and emailed to each country. At each office, the letter is printed and given to the children. This not only saves Compassion a TON of money that can now be used to help more children, it cuts down our letter travel times from months to just weeks. Letters could go from sponsors' computers to childrens' in just 3-5 weeks. It's amazing!

Of course, like with any new form of technology, especially websites, there are many glitches right now. But, really, it's not unusual. A new website always comes with issues, that sadly, can only be viewed and repaired in real time, as sponsors test out each little area of the site.

So, if you sponsor with Compassion and have found yourself frustrated with the new letter writing system, keep in mind, it has only been a week. Don't give up on it yet! There are so many new and exciting features for us to discover!

And even more exciting! I found my first two letters on this new system. I will share those with you today.

First, a letter from Allison. This letter was written a long time ago, and still would not have been in my mailbox. But, since it was sent the old way, in the mail, it was just scanned in at the U.S office. Hopefully, this is one of the last times letters will take this long.

Allison is 12 years old and lives in Ecuador. Her letter is dated December 12th, 2015.

Dear Kayla,

I trust everything is fine with you. Christmas time is coming and we will share a special dinner as a family at home. We will also watch movies about Jesus's birth. How do you celebrate Christmas in your country? I trust that you will pray for me. I always pray for you. The school year will be over soon and I got excellent grades. I hope that your Christmas traditions and ours are alike. I say goodbye to you in Jesus's name. Merry Christmas

Allison

There was also a letter from Jose on my account. His letter was written around the same time as Allison's. Again, I can't wait until letters start coming quicker!

Jose is 17 years old and lives in Peru. His letter is dated December 5th, 2015.

Dear Sponsor Kayla,

I greet you with a big hug and kiss. I hope you are in good health. I want to thank you for the letter that you sent. I will study heavy equipment operation. Also, I want to tell you that our weather is very warm because of El Nino. My seminar in Chivay (city in Peru) was very beautiful and we learned very much about God. The motto was "God has a plan for our life and He helps us very much." One night, we could give our lives to Jesus and many accepted Jesus as our personal savior. Regarding my studies in business management, I am more interested in how to manage a business that I can set up later, a car company. Also, I want to tell you that I have two siblings, the oldest one is Karen and the youngest one is Ronaldo. I want to tell you that I did see the lunar eclipse and it was awesome to see how the moon turned more red. I also remembered of God and his power because he can make so many wonders. What major are you studying or have you studied in school? Do you have any brothers or sisters? Please pray for my family and me. I close with a big hug and kiss.

Jose

  2. Kayla -
Great letters from your kids. I love all the info they share about their experiences. Do you know: if Compassion kids get a photo update, do we still get paper copies in the mail?
